Workshop Overview This workshop, led by world-renowned conducting pedagogue Markand Thakar , focuses on developing essential physical control and building musical understanding. Participants will work with the Vintner's Chamber Orchestra - Sonoma County’s professional string orchestra - on the two major staples of the repertoire: the Serenades by Dvořák and Tchaikovsky.

Sonoma State University proudly hosts the Sonoma County Middle and High School Honor Band Festival on Friday and Saturday, January 24-25, at the Green Music Center's Weill Hall. Rehearsals are open to the public. Daily parking charges $5 in effect. The Sonoma County Honor Band Concert takes place on Saturday, January 25, at 7:30 pm in Weill Hall. Symphonic Wind Ensemble & Concert Band Andy Collinsworth, Conductor Kim Mieder, Guest Conductor 8th annual Sonoma Invitational Festival Weill Hall March 11, 12, 13, 2020 The Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Concert Band play host to over 2,500 students from 45 high school ensembles at the 8th annual Sonoma Invitational Wind Band and Orchestra Festival March 11, 12, 13. Admitted students and their families are invited to learn about the music department at this annual Music Department Sampler Concert, a one-hour show of solo, jazz, and chamber ensemble pieces performed by current students.
Schroeder Hall at Sonoma State's Green Music Center is about a ten-minute walk from the campus center or a quick drive to the north campus entrance. Parking is available in Lots L, M, N and O. Map For information call 707-664-2324.

Dr. Kim Mieder’s pioneering community outreach program, NomaWinds, presents it’s first concert. As SSU’s Director of Music Education, Dr. Mieder reached out to Bay Area high school instrumentalists. The NomaWinds program not only offers performance opportunities but also private instruction, MasterClasses, and the opportunity to play great literature.
