Tuba
Jonathan Seiberlich has become a prominent member of the San Francisco Bay Area’s vibrant music scene. On any given night you may hear him perform with the the Santa Rosa Symphony, Merced Symphony, Fresno Symphony, Stockton Symphony, playing solo at MacArthur BART Station, performing with the Nomad Session wind octet, the Golden Bell Brass Quintet, with Brass Magic, the Jazz Mafia Collective, Circus Bella, electronic dance music with Balkan Bump, or singing his original music with his band Jensen Engineering.
His musical endeavors have taken him across the world, from performing for rural schools in the mountains of El Salvador, to placing 3rd in the International Tuba Quartet Competition with the USC Thornton Tuba Quartet at the International Tuba and Euphonium Association Conference in Austria.
In addition to performing, Jonathan is the Tuba Faculty at Sonoma State University, San Francisco State University, East Bay Center for Performing Arts, Cazadero Performing Arts Camp, and a director for Turning Deserts into Forests, a non-profit focused on finding new efficient ways of irrigating agriculture, organizing large scale reforestation projects, and helping rural communities in Africa conserve water.
Jonathan was born and raised in Concord, CA, and began his musical studies at Los Medanos College. He then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Tuba Performance from the Oberlin Conservatory, and a Masters degree in Tuba Performance from the University of Southern California. He has studied with Peter Wahrhaftig, Ron Bishop, Jim Self, Norm Pearson, Doug Tornquist, Roger Bobo, and Zachariah Spellman.
