Three student winners are among the eight who vied for the chance to perform with the SSU Symphony Orchestra at the third annual Concerto Competition which took place on April 11 in Schroeder Hall. The winners will perform as soloists with the orchestra on its upcoming season under the direction of Alexander Kahn, conductor of the SSU Symphony Orchestra. 

The competition winners are:

  • Spencer Causey, horn; and John Mayer, trombone, who will perform Telemann's Concerto Grosso in D for Two Horns on September 29, 2018
  • Brynn Dally, cello, who will perform Saint-Saens' Concerto No. 1 for cello on April 27, 2019

Competition director Kahn thanks the panel of jurors that included Richard Loheyde, director of the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra, and Jerome Fleg, director of the Santa Rosa Junior College Orchestra.
