About

A versatile lyric soprano, Christa Durand encourages creating music from a place of authenticity, using music as a medium to share our collective and individual stories and cultivate compassion for one another. Christa is an active performer, producer, and director, mostly within the genres of musical theater and opera.  She is also an avid enthusiast of new works and has worked with many composers to help bring their musical visions alive.  She is dedicated to helping students find their true and authentic speaking or singing voice so that they can use it to change the world.

A Sonoma State alumna, Christa is passionate about music education and making it accessible to everyone. She owns Music to My Ears in Cotati, a community music center offering private music lessons, groups classes, and musical productions. She also owns Cotati Yoga, a studio dedicated to serving the movement and meditation needs for everyone. Ms. Durand brings her experience as an arts educator, vocal technician, breathing coach, acting coach, and director to the community through her roles as an administrator and teacher at both organizations.  She is also on the board of UpStreet Music Patrons, a nonprofit that helps to fund music education and provides musical opportunities to adults and children for personal and cultural enrichment.
