Bachelor of Music, Composition

The BM Composition degree program provides specialized training in music composition and music technology, as well as instrumental or vocal performance. This concentration attracts students who are already using technological tools in music creation but need formal training in composition in a liberal arts setting in order to be viable as professionals within the field.  The Bachelor of Music in Composition is both academically and professionally viable.

In addition to core courses in music theory, history, and musicianship, courses specific to the Composition program include:
  • Audio and Recording Production – two semesters of training in the use of recording and production technology
  • Orchestration – development of arranging and orchestrational techniques
  • Music Technology Tools and Applications
  • Composition Seminar –explorations of compositional techniques in a roundtable setting
  • Conducting Technique
