Curriculum

The core curriculum for music majors provides a thorough foundation in such essential skills as keyboard facility, theoretical understanding, aural perception, and analysis of a wide range of music literature. Music majors gain experience with both the academic and the artistic processes of music making. The curriculum is designed to facilitate the specialized study of music in the setting of a liberal arts education and to facilitate advancement toward graduate study and a wide variety of careers related to music. Private instruction is a foundational component to the curriculum, and is provided to all music majors. An extensive array of large and small instrumental, choral, and jazz  ensembles provide students with a wide variety of performance experiences. Most of our students participate in multiple ensembles each semester.
