SSU Music Student Wins Ukiah's Concerto Competition

Sungdu Bae to Perform with Ukiah Symphony Orchestra

Sonoma State University’s Department of Music is proud to recognize Sungdu Bae, a talented flutist and student, for being named a winner of the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition. Sungdu impressed the judges with a performance of the first movement of Jacques Ibert’s Flute Concerto.

As part of this recognition, Sungdu will perform as a guest soloist with the Ukiah Symphony Orchestra on May 17-18, 2025, at the Mendocino College Center Theater. This achievement is part of Sungdu’s dedication to musical excellence.

The Ukiah Symphony Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition was open to middle school, high school, and undergraduate musicians, opening a space for young artists to showcase their skills and perform with a professional orchestra.

We congratulate Sungdu on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to an inspiring performance in May.
