Concert Band

The SSU Concert Band emphasizes that music-making is a lifelong activity, and provides students of all ability levels with opportunities for continued musical growth through the careful selection of appropriate repertoire. The Concert Band is open to all students, regardless of major and ability level.
The ensemble is primarily comprised of non-music majors representing the entire campus community. Some music majors also enroll, often performing on a secondary instrument to strengthen their skills as future music educators. The ensemble is under the direction of Dr. Andy Collinsworth, and assisted by senior conducting students, creating unique learning opportunities.
Concert Band meets Tuesdays & Thursdays, 5:00–6:30 pm in GMC 1028. There are no auditions for membership, though a small audition may be required to determine part assignments. The ensemble typically presents 2 to 3 performances per semester.
