Amanda McFadden is honored to step in to direct the SSU choirs while Dr. Jenny Bent is away on sabbatical. A passionate educator and conductor, Amanda currently serves as the Associate Music Director for Sonoma Bach, in collaboration with Bob Worth. She leads the Sonoma Bach Choir and the Wild Rose Treble Ensemble and sings in Circa 1600 and the Green Mountain Consort. Amanda has conducted and performed in a number of productions with Sonoma Bach since 2022 including Bach Around 30, Appear and Inspire, and Handel's Messiah, and is excited to start work on Sonoma Bach Choir's upcoming production of Brahms' Requiem.
Amanda earned her Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of Delaware in 2018, where she also led the Neuro Notes, a choir designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease, and held the position of Assistant Director for the Rainbow Chorale of Delaware. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Music Education at San José State University in 2010, followed by a Single Subject Teaching Credential in 2011, studying under the renowned Charlene Archibeque and Amanda Quist.
Her teaching experience began in 2012, covering a range of courses in Choral and Instrumental Music for students from fourth grade through high school as well as community groups. Amanda has taught at institutions including Woodside Priory School, Sonoma Academy, and Strawberry Elementary School. She also serves as a Program Manager for the California Teacher Development Collaborative, where she oversees professional development initiatives for Independent School Teachers and Leaders across the Bay Area.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Amanda enjoys playing volleyball, reading science fiction, listening to podcasts, cooking vegan dishes, and spending quality time with friends, family, and her two beloved cats.
