Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble Auditions

Fall 2026 Auditions

Auditions for the SSU Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble will be held Saturday, August 22 (woodwinds, percussion, and piano), and Sunday, August 23 (brass and strings) at the Green Music Center. All students and community members wishing to participate in these ensembles must audition.

The Symphony Orchestra rehearses Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-6pm; the Wind Ensemble rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-6pm. Please hold both of these rehearsal times open in your schedule until after ensemble placements are made.

Classical Instrumental Music majors at SSU will be placed in one or both ensembles at the discretion of the music directors. Non-majors and community members may choose to audition for either ensemble.

Preparation

Auditionees should prepare the materials (scales and excerpts) found in the appropriate packet for their instrument. Instrumental packets for Fall 2026 auditions will be posted by June 1, 2026.

The audition process takes approximately 10 minutes.
