This midterm recital—SSU singers’ first opportunity to perform for an audience this fall—will treat listeners to the lighter side of song. Performers will flex their muscles of humor and whimsy, showcasing witty patter, comedic physicality, and wistful lyricism. Happy Songs will provide the perfect midday fall escape from worry and care, and performers and audience alike will leave the performance with a smile on their lips and a song in their hearts.

For their final semester performance, the SSU singers will explore their past, their families, and the music that is woven into the fabric of their lives. Reflecting on the source of their identities, singers will choose songs that have deep personal meaning and express them best, both their current selves and as part of their lineage over time. The audience will get to know the performers in an intimate and fascinating way over the course of this evening, and all will reflect on their shared humanity and musical source.
