The Wind Power concert is an annual event featuring a talented brass or woodwind player. This year, we are featuring music from Poland with Ryszard Zoledziewski, alto sax and Piotr Rojek – piano and organ. Ryszard is a professor at the Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław, Poland and a world-renown sax player and teacher. The program will feature a piece entitled Nocturne, Zoledziewski commissioned earlier from Wilson.

Duo Sonorus: Ryszard Zoledziewski - saxophone & Piotr Rojek – organ

Ryszard Zoledziewski studied saxophone at the Konservatorium für Musik und Theater Bern – Hochschule der Künste Bern in Switzerland. He was educated under the guidance of such notable saxophonists as John Edward Kelly (USA), Christian Roellinger (France), Iwan Roth and Marcus Weiss (Switzerland). He also participated in the Jazz Master Class conducted by Jerry Bergonzi (USA) and studied contemporary music, its artistry and composition technique, with Henri Pousseur (Belgium) and Urs Peter Schneider (Switzerland). He has performed many concert tours with saxophone solo recitals and chamber concerts. In his many years of artistic activity he has collaborated with excellent instrumentalists in various group formations in most European countries and North America, taking part in several hundred concerts. As a soloist, he has given concerts with outstanding orchestras performing wht Philharmonics and renowned concert halls in Poland and also abroad - in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Kharkov, Kiev, Riga, Toronto and Utrecht. He has participated in many recordings for radio and television stations in Poland, Switzerland, Latvia and Ukraine and has recorded CDs, including many premieres of contemporary compositions. Many artists from the Netherlands, Lithuania, Latvia, Germany, Poland and the USA have dedicated to him their works. He is employed as an adjunct at the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wrocław, where he leads the classical saxophone class and performs the function of the Head of the Brass Instruments, Percussion and Accordion Department.

Piotr Rojek graduated from The Karol Lipiński Academy of Music in Wrocław at the Department of Instrumental organ class with Professor Andrzej Chorosiński and the Department of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Music Therapy in composition with Professor Zygmunt Herembeszta and Professor Dr. Krystian Kiełb. He held a series of master classes - interpretative and improvisational, led by such outstanding personalities from the world of

organ music, as Julian Gembalski, Bernhard Haas, Hans Haselböck, Ton Koopman, Jon Laukvik, Armin Schoof, Wolfgang Seifen, Joseph Serafin and Harald Vogel. Dr. Piotr Rojek is working as a professor at his alma mater, where he directs the Cathedral Organ, Harpsichord and Early Music program. From 2016 he is Dean Instrumental Faculty. He is also lecturer of the National School of Music second degree. The artist has performed, among others, in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Norway, Slovakia, Sweden. He also conducts master classes in his country and abroad. He has recorded over a dozen albums. He established in 2005 a plate on which he registered nine Toccatas of outstanding composers from the Baroque to the twentieth

century, made on historic organs.  Adam Horace Casparini Wołów, was nominated for the prestigious Polish Phonographic Academy FRYDERYK. Piotr Rojek is a scholar of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts, Internationale Altenberger Orgelakademie in Germany and winner of organ and composer competitions.
