Symphonic Wind Ensemble
The 2026-2027 concert season marks the 25th anniversary of the Sonoma Symphonic Wind Ensemble. Founded in 2001 by Dr. Brian S. Wilson, and now under the direction of Dr. Andy Collinsworth, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble has garnered a reputation over the years for its outstanding performances of contemporary and traditional wind repertoire. Comprised of the finest woodwind, brass, and percussion performers at the university, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble embraces musical artistry and collaboration, and endeavors to engage, connect, and inspire audiences in the university, educational, and North Bay communities.
The SWE has collaborated with contemporary artists and composers including Viet Cuong, Michael Daugherty, Paul Dooley, Shuying Li, John Mackey, Oscar Navarro, and James Stephenson. The ensemble performs frequently throughout the year at university concerts and festivals and has performed on tour at locations throughout the West. The Sonoma Symphonic Wind Ensemble was recently invited to perform at the 2026 College Band Directors National Association's (CBDNA) Western-Northwestern Division Conference in Reno, NV.
