Jazz Four Year Repertoires

Jazz Studies Instructors:
Raffi Garabedian, saxophone
Doug Leibinger, trombone
Randy Vincent, guitar
Ken Cook, piano
Andrew Emer, bass
George Marsh, drums
Ian Carey, trumpet

At the end of each semester, every Jazz Studies major at SSU must perform a "jury" for a panel of faculty. The 10-minute jury performance will consist of one jazz standard from the following list and one item recommended by your private lesson instructor.

The jazz standard may be performed with a live rhythm section or a Jamey Aebersold-style play along recording-the melody and chord progression must be memorized.

Drummers must perform their jury with at least two other players.

Your "position" on the list is determined by your projected graduation date-i.e. first semester freshmen start with the first five tunes; a transfer student with a projected 5-semester plan would begin at "2/2." All five tunes from each semester are eligible- the faculty panel will determine which standard to perform.
