Jazz Studies Requirements

Applicants should prepare to play one major, one minor and one chromatic scale, two octaves.

Applicants in Jazz should prepare two standard jazz tunes, and must improvise on each. Suggested repertoire for each instrument listed below. All applicants must perform with an Aebersold-style play along CD or a live rhythm section.

Jazz drummers must demonstrate various styles, including Medium Swing, Fast Swing, Jazz Waltz, Bossa, Samba, Mambo, 12/8 Afro, Funk, Ballad w/brushes, Odd-meter groove.

Drum Set and Amps are provided. Guitarists and Bass players should bring their own cord.
