Winner of Ninth Annual Concerto Competition Chosen

On Sunday April 7 at 7:30pm the Ninth Annual Sonoma State Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition was held in Schroeder Hall. The judges for the event were Alexander Kahn (Director of Orchestral Activities, Sonoma State), Jerome Fleg (Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band Director, Santa Rosa Junior College), and Richard Loheyde (Orchestra Director, Credo High School).

The judges were very impressed by all fourteen performers, who represented a healthy cross-section of string, brass, woodwind, and percussion majors currently enrolled at Sonoma State and whose selections ranged from the Baroque Era to contemporary music. The judges have chosen one student to be featured next fall with the Sonoma State Symphony Orchestra, as follows:

Colin Bartlett (John Mackey, Concerto for Percussion)

Additionally, the judges are awarding an honorable mention to:
Leif Dering, Vanhal Concerto for Bass
Sundgu Bae, Ibert Flute Concerto

Congratulations to all!
