Dr. Andrew Harrison receives Dean’s Summer Research & Creative Activities Grant
Sonoma State University music faculty member Dr. Andrew Harrison has received a Dean’s Summer Research & Creative Activities Grant to support a new recording project for saxophone and piano. Created in collaboration with Duo HaLo and recorded in Schroeder Hall at the Green Music Center, the album will feature works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Robert Schumann, and Fernande Decruck. The project places the saxophone in a traditional classical context, highlighting the instrument’s lyricism, expressive depth, and connection to some of the most beloved voices in classical music.
The grant recognizes Dr. Harrison’s ongoing contributions as both a performing artist and educator. In addition to advancing his own creative work, the project will support future performances, presentations, and teaching, while also showcasing Sonoma State’s outstanding artistic spaces and faculty achievement. The album is planned for release on Azure Sky Records, an international label based in Hong Kong.
