Dr. Bent Returned to Boston University Tanglewood Institute as Chorus Conductor
Dr. Jenny Bent, Professor of Music and Director of Choral and Vocal Activities at Sonoma State University, returned this summer to the Boston University Tanglewood Institute as conductor of the Young Artists Vocal Program Chorus.
During the six-week program in Lenox, Massachusetts, Bent prepared the chorus for its culminating performance at Seiji Ozawa Hall and for a collaboration with the Boston Symphony Orchestra featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
The Boston University Tanglewood Institute brings together high school musicians ages 14 to 19 for intensive summer study through Boston University’s College of Fine Arts and in conjunction with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. The Young Artists Vocal Program includes individual voice lessons, coaching, music theory, diction, acting and movement, and chorus rehearsals.
At Sonoma State, Bent leads choral and vocal activities and directs SonoVoce, which has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York and Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. She also serves as Choral Director for the Santa Rosa Symphony and as Repertoire & Resources Collegiate Choirs Coordinator for the National American Choral Directors Association.
