Sonoma State Music Student Leads Youth Mariachi Ensemble to State Title

Sonoma State University Department of Music student Matthew Bowker is making an impact on music education in our community. Bowker directs Cantares de Mi Tierra, the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts youth mariachi ensemble recently named “Best Youth Mariachi in California” after taking first place at the California State Fair’s youth mariachi competition.

The Press Democrat recently highlighted Bowker, the ensemble’s achievement, and the continued growth of mariachi education in Sonoma County.
