Sonoma State University Flute Choir Performs at National Flute Association Convention
The Sonoma State University Flute Choir was selected to perform at the National Flute Association’s 54th Annual Convention, held August 6–9, 2026, at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.
The ensemble participated in the NFA’s Flute Ensemble Festival, a nationally adjudicated program that selects flute ensembles and flute choirs through an anonymous review process. Selected groups are invited to perform as part of the annual convention’s concerts, showcases, and educational events.
Sonoma State’s Flute Choir performed on the convention’s Flute Ensemble Festival program under the direction of Professor Victoria Hauk. The participating musicians included students and alumni Alyssa Cunningham, Sungdu Bae, Sydney Cook, Devin Swift, Theodore Hayse, and Lizeth Torres-Valencia, along with Hauk. The official convention schedule listed the Sonoma State University Flute Choir for a featured festival performance in Portland.
Their selection placed Sonoma State musicians among flute ensembles from across the country and beyond participating in one of the National Flute Association’s largest annual gatherings.
