The SSU Concert Choir is a perfect choice for the singer who is experiencing choral music for the first time or has experience, but would like to further develop their vocal technique and/or music reading skills. Repertoire is stylistically varied and carefully chosen to meet the musical level of the ensemble. A simple audition is required.

The SSU Symphonic Chorus is a 60-80 member ensemble that includes SSU students (music and non-music majors), staff, faculty, and members of the community. Singers must pass an audition, and sight reading experience is required. The resident chorus of the Santa Rosa Symphony, the Symphonic Chorus performs with this prestigious organization annually. Recent collaborations include Rachmaninoff's The Bells, Prokofiev’s Alexander Nevsky, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem, and Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Concert reviews by the San Francisco Classical Voice include the following:

-   “the choir – Sonoma State University Symphonic Chorus- was superb.  Located within the orchestra instead of in the choir loft, the choristers were fully integrated into the sonic texture, aided in no small part by their excellent diction and well-controlled dynamics.”

-   “In the ‘Agnus Dei,’ the choir showed off its precise articulation, enunciating ‘qui tollis peccata mundi’ with clarion fervor.”

-   “They [SSU Symphonic Chorus] soared above the mighty orchestral forces assembled below and stole the show.”
