Concert Program

Experience the vibrant fusion of rhythm and improvisation as the Latin Band brings Memo Acevedo’s “Building Bridges,” Sivuca’s tribute “Um Tom Pra Jobim,” Jobim’s haunting “Lamento,” and Ray Obiedo’s lively “Brasileiro” to life, while the Contemporary Jazz Ensemble delivers Tom Harrell’s sleek “Moon Alley,” a fresh vocal take on Thelonious Monk’s “Ask Me Now,” Bobby Timmons’s soulful “Moanin’,” and the lyrical beauty of Kenny Dorham’s “Lotus Blossom.” This concert showcases the dynamic interplay between Latin grooves and modern jazz sensibilities, offering students and audiences alike a compelling journey across musical borders. Don’t miss this unforgettable celebration of cross‑cultural artistry presented by our university’s premier jazz program.
