Audition Strategies and Masterclasses for High School String Players
Please join Dr. Alexander Kahn, Director of Orchestral Activities at Sonoma State University, for the first inaugural Day of Strings at Sonoma State University. This free event will take place Sunday, October 13, at the beautiful Green Music Center at Sonoma State University. Participants will have the chance to learn about the college admissions process from the perspective of current music majors and gain insights from Dr. Kahn into how to effectively prepare for and take a college admissions audition. Members of Sonoma State’s illustrious string faculty will then lead masterclasses on standard college audition repertoire. Participants in the event will also receive up to three complimentary tickets to a performance by the world-renowned Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble in the award-winning Weill Hall at 3:00 p.m. A private Q&A with musicians in the Ensemble, moderated by Dr. Kahn, will take place one hour prior to the performance.
