Vocal Repertory Class regularly explores all eras of music history, ranging across genres and parts of the world to broaden its singers skills and experience. In this concert, all the voice majors have the rare and exciting opportunity to perform contemporary music by their mentors and peers. They will present ten newly composed songs written by current SSU students and recent alumni. Percussion instructor and composer, Jennifer Wilsey, has collaborated with two of the singers to create two new Dream Songs, which will receive their world premiere at this concert. Several singers will perform selections from Byron Songs by Brian Wilson, director of the Music Theory and Jewish Studies programs. Others will sing charming songs by long time Music Department pianist, Richard Riccardi, set to lyrics by Dorothy Parker. And Composition Program director Thom Limbert will perform his electronic work, Petaluma Howl, with one of SSU’s most intrepid students. Join us for an evening filled with contemporary sounds, world premieres, and the creative sparks of vocal music composition at Sonoma State University.
Streaming will take place on this page on the performance date and time.
