Eighth Annual Sonoma State Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition winners announced

The Eighth Annual Sonoma State Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition took place on Sunday, April 2, at 7:30pm in Schroeder Hall.

The panel of judges (Alexander Kahn, SSU; Richard Loheyde, Credo High; Jerome Fleg, SRJC) was very impressed with all of the performances, and felt that the overall level of playing amongst all of the applicants was exceptionally high this year.

The judges chose two winners of the competition: Jason Whitney (Gordon Jacob, Concerto for Horn and Strings) and Charlie Whitaker (Copland, Old American Songs). These two students will perform their pieces with the SSU Symphony Orchestra during the 23-24 concert season.

Bravi to all of the performers!!

Sincerely, Alexander Kahn
