The Department of Music at Sonoma State University welcomed Eric Whitacre to an open Zoom discussion moderated by Director of Choral Activities at SSU, Dr. Jenny Bent.

Students and faculty alike from both Sonoma State and Santa Rosa Junio College were welcome to this free conversation where Whitacre was able to discuss his work and answer questions from voice and composition students ranging from topics about his creative process to advice on making it in the music business to the possibility of his stepping into the composing of pop music!

Vocal performers were also treated with the unique experience of being virtually conducted by Eric Whitacre and singing, in their own virtual spaces, one of his own pieces, "Glow" from Disney's "World of Color Winter Dreams".

Whitacre brought powerful insight and thoughtfully answered each question to the delight and awe of all 70+ in attendance.

The Department of Music is grateful to Mr. Whitacre for taking the time to share his honesty and brilliance and proud to be able to provide such opportunities to our students and community.
