Opera Scenes: Project Pauline—Cendrillon and the Magical Life of Pauline Viardot: Thursday, May 20 at 7:30pm
I’m sure many of you know the name Pauline Viardot, but do you know much more than that? Later this month, SSU Opera Scenes will launch Project Pauline, a video podcast that interweaves a full production of her last opera, Cendrillon, with additional music by Viardot, her family, and her friends. These figures will be featured characters in an overarching drama that will show the influence Viardot had on SO many great musicians of the 19th century. We are having a blast getting to know this amazing artist by spending a semester in her world, and we can’t wait to invite you to join us there starting on March 24. More details and coming soon. Happy Women’s History Month, and happy 200th birthday, Pauline Viardot!
