Jewish Music Series Returns For Fourth Year

Sonoma State University’s fourth annual Jewish Music Series answers the age-old question of  “What makes music Jewish?” with five musical acts of Jewish scholarship, remembrance and plain old fun.

Three student winners are among the eight who vied for the chance to perform with the SSU Symphony Orchestra at the third annual Concerto Competition which took place on April 11 in Schroeder Hall.

The 18-member Commanders Jazz Ensemble from the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West will headline a concert of Big Band music at Sonoma State’s Weill Hall Friday, May 11, 2018 at 7:30 pm.

Members of the Sonoma State University faculty and selected students will perform music by American composer Charles Ives in Schroeder Hall on March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are on sale for Sonoma State University’s Department of Music spring 2018 season that consists of more than 30 student, faculty and visiting artist performances at the Green Music Center, and ten showings of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at Evert B. Person Theatre.  

The third annual Jewish Music Series from August 31–November 30 leans toward the spiritual, with a dash of klezmer and avant-garde.
