Please join Dr. Alexander Kahn, Director of Orchestral Activities at Sonoma State University, for the fifth annual Day of Strings at Sonoma State University.
This free event will take place Sunday, November 5, 2023, at the beautiful Green Music Center at Sonoma State University.
Participants will have the chance to hear performances by our amazing string faculty, read great string ensemble literature, participate in and observe masterclasses on standard college admission repertoire, learn about the college admissions process from the perspective of current music majors, and gain insights into how to effectively prepare for and take a college admissions audition.
This event takes place concurrently with Sonoma State's first-ever Saxophone Day

10:00 a.m. Welcome and registration: Schroeder Hall Lobby
10:10 a.m. Chamber Music Performance by SSU Strings faculty (Schroeder Hall)
10:30 a.m. Masterclass with SSU Strings faculty (Schroeder Hall)
12:00 p.m. Lunch in Schroeder Courtyard (weather permitting)
12:30 p.m. “The College Admissions/Audition Process and Life of a Music Major” - talk by Dr. Alexander Kahn and panel discussion with current students (Schroeder Hall)
1:00 pm. String orchestra reading session - string orchestra music from around the world (Schroeder Hall)
2:00 p.m. End of day
