The Sonoma State University Brass Ensemble is a vibrant group of interested trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium, and tuba players, sometimes augmented by percussion. Under the direction of trumpet instructor Dan Gianola-Norris, the ensemble studies and performs music from all eras from the Renaissance to the 21st century. In addition to covering the standard repertoire of professional brass quintets, the SSUBE performs many new or rarely-heard pieces, with a special emphasis on music by marginalized composers.

The Brass Ensemble presents one major concert each semester and sometimes performs at special campus events. Our members include music majors and other qualified students, occasionally augmented by volunteer players from the community.
